Biz Benefits is similar to these other programs in that they all make life less expensive for business owners. But Biz Benefits stands out in a few distinct ways.

All businesses within a BIA must pay the BIA levy, while membership in a local chamber of commerce is optional. As Dan Kelly, President and CEO of the CFIB, himself notes: Given his organization’s fees (a minimum of $444 per year, compared to our cost of $5 per business) most business owners wait until they are secure and stable before they join his organization. In contrast, if your BIA is part of the Biz Benefits program, new businesses in your zone can save money from the moment they open their doors, without the burden of any additional costs.

As well, our sole objective is to develop benefits for your members. Through market research with BIAs and businesses, we’re finding discounts that are most advantageous to them. Our program is as user-friendly as possible—and your members will see discounts that are tailored to their industry, through the use of NAICS code designations.

Biz Benefits is an incorporated, for-profit social enterprise, and we believe in giving back to the communities where we operate. We have agreements with our corporate partners that at the end of the year, they’ll make a donation to a selection of local charities and non-profits in proportion to the revenue generated in a given city or town. That means the more your members save, the more funding we can provide to organizations working to make your community a better place! Talk about a win-win!

According to data on member benefits programs like ours, a conservative estimate is that between ten and thirty percent of your members will take advantage of the savings in the program, which means there is a very strong return on your investment for your members.

As an example, if your BIA has 200 members, your Biz Benefits annual membership will be $5 per business, or $1,000. If even ten per cent of your members take advantage of the Moneris savings alone, assuming these 25 businesses earn an average of $500,000 per year, the total savings in your zone on Moneris fees alone will be almost $50,000 per year—a 50X return on your investment. We also think that with your support, it’s possible to achieve a higher participation rate, resulting in even greater benefit to your members (and a larger donation made in your community).

Unlike programs you run yourself, part of your Biz Benefits fee goes towards providing you with marketing support to ensure this program is a success for you and your members, without adding extra work onto your plate. We take care of it for you.

When you sign up, Biz Benefits will send an information packet branded with your logo to your members, and email them to let them know about the program and how to take advantage of the discounts available. We also have a hotline and contact us page they can use when they have questions about our program.

We know making contact with your members is important to you, so we also provide you with info packages branded with your logo, for you to give to existing and new members. These packages outline the benefits of being a part of their BIA, and how they can start using the Biz Benefits savings immediately.

We have built a dedicated software management platform to manage the Biz Benefits program. Upon sign-up, just send us a list of your members. We’ll generate a unique ID for each member, and email each member to inform them of their ID. They’ll use their ID to access all discounts in the program.

On a schedule of your choosing (monthly, quarterly, annually), you can send us a new list of your members. We’ll create unique IDs for new members, and remove businesses no longer on your list. Only active members will be able to access their discounts as this ensures that only eligible, levy-paying members within your zone enjoy the benefits of membership in your BIA and your enrollment in our program. This is a key feature of our program, as our mission is to make it easier and more attractive to open a business in the downtowns and high street districts where BIAs operate.
